The factory valve covers tend to warp and become distorted over time, causing the gasket surface to lift off the cam boxes and allow oil to leak out.  These billet aluminum items will not warp, and are especially effective on the 993, which came with hardened plastic valve covers from the factory.  They look great when first bolted on too!
