964 and 993 Service Advisory
For your seldom-driven cars, we suggest the following services to be performed on an annual basis:
Oil filter service- change the oil and filter, cut the existing filter and inspect for the presence of metallic particles. For 993s we suggest replacing both filters.
Check the engine case and gearbox for leaks.
Inspect the functionality of the e-brake, and address if needed.
Inspect the condition of the brakes and the brake fluid.
Inspect steering rack boots, tie rod end boots, and ball joints.
Inspect the half-shafts for wear and torn boots. For all-wheel-drive cars, we also like to inspect the drive-shaft.
Nut-and-bolt the exhaust system and check for leaks.
Check the tires for cracks or dry-rotting, set to correct pressures.
Check all rubber seals, apply appropriate lubrication if necessary.
Complete inspection of the lighting system, including the headlight alignment.
Complete windshield washer inspection- check the fluid level, nozzle aim, and condition of the wipers.
Check the battery life by performing a load test and voltage check.
General check of electrical components and wiring, including the horn.
For the daily-drivers, we suggest the following every 15,000 miles.
Oil filter service- change the oil and filter, cut the existing filter and inspect for the presence of metallic particles. This is a minor oil-service for 993s, meaning only one filter is replaced.
Check the ECU for any error codes.
Replace the pollen filters.
Check the engine and gearbox for leaks
Inspect the air-filter, clean or replace if necessary.
Complete inspection of the crank-case system.
Complete inspection of the fuel-system- hoses, clamps, and a fuel pressure check.
Complete inspection of the air-intake system as well as the vacuum lines.
Inspect the functionality of the e-brake, and address if needed.
Complete brake system inspection: Check the pads for wear; check the rotors for wear or cracks; check the hoses for rubbing; check the hard lines for damage; brake fluid flush.
Check to make sure the clutch adjustment is within specification.
Check to make sure the throttle movement is within specification.
Variocam-equipped cars will receive extra attention to the system to ensure its proper operation.
Inspect steering rack boots, tie rod end boots, and ball joints. Power-steering equipped cars will also have the system inspected for correct operation and leaks.
Check the drive-train fluids to ensure correct level.
Inspect the half-shafts for wear and torn boots. For all-wheel-drive cars, we also like to inspect the drive-shaft.

Inspect the door hinges and lubricate as necessary.
Ensure the correct operation of all locks, latches, and power-lock systems.
Inspect the seat-belt to ensure correct operation.
Check all rubber seals, apply appropriate lubrication if necessary.
Complete inspection of the lighting system, including the headlight alignment.
General check of electrical components and wiring, including the horn.
Complete windshield washer inspection- check the fluid level, nozzle aim, and condition of the wipers.
Road test the car to ensure correct operations of the brake, clutch, steering, A/C, heating, instruments, ASC, and e-brake.
In addition to the above, we also perform the following every 30,000 miles.
Replace the alternator belt
Complete filter service: air-filter, and all oil-filters depending on the model (964 or 993)
Replace spark-plugs.
For cars equipped with the automatic transmission: Replace the ATF.
We advise replacing the manual transmission fluid at this time as well, however dealer recommends this to be done in 60,000 mile intervals.
Check the condition of the power-steering pump belt.
In addition to the above, we also perform the following every 60,000 miles:
Replace drive-train oils.
Replace fuel filter.
