The stock tie-rods on a non-Turbo 911 from 1969 to 1989 uses rubber isolators that were originally designed to keep out road noise and vibration. However, the downside to these is that they make the steering feel spongey and vague under spirited driving conditions. The tie-rods that came stock on the 911 Turbo did not have any isolators and were just a metal rod. Whether you upgrade the tie-rods by themselves or as part of a suspension upgrade, you will definitely feel the difference.
